Title: FUD to BOCCA
The Indian Institute of Planning and Management Ahmedabad completed the first round of its journey called FUD to BOCCA. When we saw students for the first time we could see the fear in their eyes, the uncertainty in the minds and disappointment in their performances but with world class exposure given to them in the form IIPM course contents, faculties, infrastructure, academic and non academic clubs, guest lectures, projects, summer trainings, industry visits, career counseling, we witnessed a complete transformation, a paradigm shift as  the same set of students transformed into BOCCA’s, students with belief, optimism, courage, conviction and action. Feb 28th 2005…….. there are many things in life that money can’t buy, things like love, care, affection, feelings, bonds, relationships and when it comes to  bonding at IIPM Ahmedabad, its really unshakeable, its irresistible, its not only seen around the campus, its felt in the eyes, body language and hearts of entire IIPM family and the occasion of farewell of IIPM Ahmedabad’s first ever batch, PGP spring summer 2004-06 batch was worth watching a million times, as the entire family ( Internal faculty members, spring summer  batch students, visiting faculties) gathered on the grand and special occasion with plethora of mixed feelings. On one hand we felt the euphoria, the ecstasy, the victory and a sense of achievement that our 39 students, our 39 gems are ready to take on this world. They are  on the verge of realizing their professional as well as personal dreams, they are ready to take the challenges and beat the competition to the maximum, infact  the entire industry will witness the flood of IIPM Ahmedabad’s students but on the other hand there were emotions, pain and sadness in the air as our lovely students would not be around in the campus, the batch mates would be separated, we are going to miss them in the classes, in library, in canteen, in computer lab, infact we are already missing them.

The entire farewell ceremony was filled with emotions as Prof. Nitin Ralhan (Faculty Executive Communication) spoke about philosophy of IIPM, bond between students and faculties, motivation and attitude required to achieve all their dreams, followed by fantastic speech by Prof. Dipankar Sarkar (Dean IIPM Ahmedabad), who spoke his heart out on the special occasion, succeeded by prize distribution ceremony for all the students and faculties. It was really a treat to watch as the students applauded, roared, they were excited, they looked extremely touched and passionate about their own institution and this was evident , when every student expressed his/her heart out for IIPM. After the prize distribution ceremony came the jazz time as the entire family was on the floor, danced for three hours continuously, rolled the drums, rocked the floor and created an atmosphere of fun, frolic, masti and dhoom. There was passion, enthusiasm, excitement, happiness and bonding in the air which is very much in hearts even now and will remain forever. This miraculous day was further made heavens by the delicious food as everyone was just licking their fingers. While eating every student wrote special comments for IIPM, there were group photographs and once again the emotions came into picture as there were tears in eyes and hugs in the air because everyone could realize the loveable and caring world of The Indian Institute of Planning and Management, a revolution, a movement that started back in 1973, grown in spirit, mind and body throughout the world. We are really proud that we are a part of this movement and we have crossed the first milestone in terms of providing IIPM Ahmedabad’s talents to this world , infact its just a beginning, its just a first step towards a journey which is going to pass and cross innumerable milestones, because we dare to think beyond…
