GLOBAL OUTREACH PROGRAM- Prof. SUNDER NARAYANAN on STRATEGIES FOR GLOBAL MARKET ON 18TH DECEMBER 2008.

The objective behind the workshop was to understand the global business environment-economic, cultural, and political—and how to apply this Understanding to global strategy, How to assess and address local and global buyers and local and global competitors, Strategic options for organizing and entering foreign markets, How to best balance global and local considerations when developing the marketing mix.

Prof. Sunder Narayanan is a Clinical Associate Professor of Marketing at the Stern School of Business at New York University. Prof. Sunder Narayanan took the GOP workshop in three sessions covering the three main topics:

1) Analyzing the Global Environment
2) Formulating the Global Strategy
3) Implementing the Global Strategy

Prof. A. Sandeep is one of South Asia’s distinguished exponents on Strategic Management. He is Dean, Center for Advanced Consulting & Research at the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM), one of India’s largest, most respected and top-ranked-schools. He is concurrently the Executive President at Planman Consulting, India’s largest multi-interest consulting group.

The GOP session for exclusively for the Corporates, Managers from Indian companies planning to enter markets outside India, or in the early stages of international market entry.

Corporates enjoyed the session and gave a good feedback to us. On 18th December, 2008, their was a session with students. Students enjoyed the session and it was very interactive session.

  Global Outreach Programme on Strategies for Entering International Market by Prof. Susan Douglas.

The workshop was conducted to examine the specific issues involved in developing an international marketing strategy and in conducting marketing operations on an international scale as opposed on a “domestic” scale. Focus was on identifying and evaluating opportunities in international markets, developing and adapting marketing tactics in relation to specific national market needs and constraints.

We had Dr. Susan P Douglas, the Paganelli-Bull Professor of Marketing and International Business at New York University’s Stern School of Business. Also, Prof. Ranjan Paul from IIPM, a Graduate from St. Xavier and a Management Degree holder from IIM Kolkota, he left the corporate world as a Country Head of an American MNC where he scaled it up to a company having Pan India presence.

The GOP session for exclusively for the Corporates, Managers from Indian companies planning to enter markets outside India, or in the early stages of international market entry. The workshop was divided into 3 sessions.
  • Session I: Initial International Market Entry
  • Session II: Assessing Mode of Entry in International Markets: Case Discussion Discussion of a short case, Global Beer, focusing on the mode of entry alternatives faced by two young US entrepreneurs, as they plan to enter the Japanese beer market.
  • Session III: Developing the International Marketing Plan
Corporate enjoyed the session and gave a good feedback to us. On 21st August, 2008, a session with students was arranged. Students learnt many new concepts from this very interactive session.

  GLOBAL OUTREACH PROGRAMME

IIPM Ahmedabad and Planman Consultancy as a part of Global Outreach Programme conducted Chief Executive Forum in Ahmedabad in March. This time we had with us Prof. Lakshman krishnamurthi from Kellogg School of Management as the chief instructor along with Prof. Anirudh sharma to deliberate upon Customer Advantage Strategy. The session enabled the participants to link business goals, marketing objectives, core competence and customer knowledge into a winning marketing strategy. Prof. Krishnamurthy also described a methodology to price a product or service, based on the value that it provides to customers, at the same time demonstrated that value pricing is a win-win situation for both sellers and buyers. At the end of the day, participants from the corporate world were elated having got their dose of marketing fundas, that too from an Ivy League professor!

Professor took a separate and exclusive session for IIPM-Ahmedabad students also. All in all it was a great learning opportunity for the student fraternity that duly complimented their classroom learning.
