R.K. Misra
Winner of LEAD INDIA
Date: 6th February 2008
He is poised to 'LEAD INDIA'. And on 6th February 2008, he came calling on the future managers at The Indian Institute of Planning and Management, Bangalore. R K Misra, the winner of LEAD INDIA, the Times of India intiative for India to choose a new leader, interacted in an open house session with the students at IIPM Bangalore for about an hour. The session threw up interesting points, opinions and debates, exactly what Mr. Misra wanted to ignite among the agog young future managers. He asked them to think 'destructively' and spot opportunities in areas where nobody has thought of applying a bit of marketing and management so far. Case in point - reviving the art forms in various Indian cities and increasing the marketability (Brassware in Moradabad or wooden toys in Karnataka). Mr. Misra put these seeds in the minds of the youngsters to germinate into ideas that can change society. Misra,an IITian who has been an active entrepreneur and a social activist has been the Founder Trustee - SAHYOG – Indian Council for Public Private Partnership (ICPPP) and advisor to the Government of Rajasthan on the rajasthan Mission on Livelihood. He now works with Social Entrepreneurs, invests as an Angel Investor and advocates Public Private Partnerships in the areas of infrastructure & employment generation by working with various government and industry organizations. In the past 5 years he has made significant improvement to Bangalore's crumbling infrastructure as well. He spoke in the session exclusively through the questions of the students and they had a stimulating time as they quizzed him on all aspects from what he would like to change in Bangalore to what he would do for development of women to his take on the latest controversy centered around Raj Thackrey.
