Table tennis tournament
The annual Table Tennis tournament at IIPM Bangalore is always a high class affair in terms of the skill displayed and contests dished out. 2007 was no different as the defending champion stamped his class in the singles and some new stars emerged in the other events including the mixed doubles and ladies’ doubles titles. Niranjan Rao had a facile straight set victory over surprise finalist Miten who beat a red hot Amit Sharma from SS0709 Section A in the semis. Niranjan had to battle Ayan Mukherjee from the HRIC division of Planman Consulting in a thrilling semi final. In the ladies doubles, Banhi Dutta (GIDF) and Jisla Xavier (Contractual Staffing Solutions, Planman Consulting) took the title, while Rachna from HRIC won the ladies singles. Vikram Tanwar (IIPM) and Anisha Damodaran (Planman Media) took the honors in the mixed doubles and the men’s doubles went to Stanley Simon (Planman Media) and Andy (ICMR) after a thrilling five setter.

Table Tennis Tournament
The table tennis tournament at IIPM Bangalore organized by Torque—the sports club has become a popular annual event that in its 2006 edition generated a lot of excitement, good TT and new talent. In a tightly contested tournament, Niranjan Rao of the fresh SS 2006/08 batch upstaged last year’s finalist Gaurav Ajmera (SS2005/07) in 3 sets to take the men’s single title. However, in the ladies singles title the pecking order was maintained as the previous champions Deepthi L (SS2005/07) retained her titled seeing off Nabina Bala (UGP2005/08) in straight sets. In the men’s doubles, Sone George and Gaurav Ajmera (SS2005/07) won the title beating Suhas S and Vachan Hegde (UGP2005/08) again in straight sets.
