Creativity was the key to winning this particular cultural extravaganza. The Indian Institute of Planning and Management, Chennai hosted ‘Aagman’ at Rani Seethai hall on November 5, 2007 where more than 100 students took part in various artistic events. The event was inaugurated by the Dean of IIPM, Prof.Amlan Ray. Talent was at stake where students were hooked to create the first and best impression amongst all.

Even students from different batches  participated in events like skit, mimicry, dance, music band, fashion show, and singing thus displaying their energy and enthusiasm Participation from the staff was like an icing on the cake. The stage was set ablaze with the number ‘Maiya…Maiya’…and ‘Aae Aatha’ that  superbly  swayed the audience.

The show took off with the skit, focusing on the Indian trendz of flying abroad and the political scenario afflicting the future of the students that refreshed and molded the mood of the day. And then it was time for the big event of the evening - the fashion show featuring three rounds of chic and trends by the students of IIPM. Encapsulating Corporate, Ethnic and Casual rounds, the event let to a lot of audience cheers with gusto.

‘Jaadu teri nazar...khushbu tera badan’, ‘Main hoon don’ and many more evergreen numbers from the popular Bollywood flicks swooshed the audience as the faculty members were on the dais pleasing the cochlea’s of the daisies and tracing the reminisces of the original track of their favorite star Shahrukh Khan. Indeed it was an exuberating day that has memoired Aagman in the minds of IIPM till date.

Venue: Rani Seethai Hall.
Participants: FW/06-08

Event Description with details of the event:

Are you passionate about you’re country??
Do you have passion for power??
Is Society a big concern for you???

If sheer passion is what runs wild through your veins, then AAGAMAN ‘06 was the place you should have been on Tuesday, the 31st of October, 2006, at Rani Seethai Hall. This year’s show encircled around the theme - ‘Passion’. Students portrayed their passion for life through different mediums like skits, dance, mime, fashion show, music and a host of performances.

The curtains rose at 7.15 pm with a colorful presentation about the theme which was pivotal to the show.

As the tradition goes, proceedings were flagged off with the lighting of the lamp by the distinguished Prof. Amlan Ray, Dean (Administration) and Prof. Debojit Choudhury.

Indian culture has always been on top priority and hence the welcome dance was performed in authentic Bharatanatiyam style by Shalini which was well appreciated by the large turnout.

After Shalini welcoming the group, we had the one and only performance by seniors - Nikhil delivering the seniors’ speech to greet the new batch. After all, AAGAMAN is a programme of the “freshers”, by the “freshers” and for the “freshers”!!!!!

PASSION FOR LOVE
The theme of “falling” in love was very well depicted in the skit performed by Mustafa and Group. Directed by Mustafa, the skit found a good number of participants who would have given professional actors a run for their money.  This included Anusha, Karthick, Hemadri Harish, Krishnan, Shubha, and Senthil and team

PASSION FOR HIP HOP
The BBAs stole the show when they danced to the tune of a comic remix, of the famous Chandramukhi song lakka lakka lakka…..

PASSION FOR SOCIETY AND THE NATION

After some fun and frolic, the mood took a more serious note with a skit on social betterment and responsibilities. The whole crowd was made to think hard about the social evils prevailing in the society – drugs, communal disharmony and mistreatment of the physically disabled.

PASSION FOR PINK
Suchitha, Neha and Tanya were received with thunderous applause when they danced to the tunes of Ishq Kabhi Kariyona.

PASSION FOR POWER
When power overrules love, it’s a recipe for disaster. This was well illustrated by the BBA students in their comical illustration of the society. Saket who played the role of eunuch was the center of attraction and everybody else in the play absolutely fitted into their character’s shoes.

PASSION FOR DANCE
Shalini and her group worked magic around the stage with their folk dance presentation and captured the attention of everyone present in the auditorium.

PASSION FOR MUSIC
Music is an element which thrives on passion, and it was noticeably evident with the musical extravaganza.
Lively numbers like where’s the party tonight?? , Loosu Penne, Partha Mudhal Nalley, and many other peppy numbers rocked the auditorium.

PASSION PASSION PASSION!!!!
The last event was the most anticipated part of the show. The fashion show has been the show stopper at all previous editions of Aagaman and it was no exception this time around, but only with an added dose of excitement.

This year’s show epitomized what AAGAMAN stood for. This defines the beginning of a colorful and illustrious career for each and every freshman and a reminder to the others that, they were there, not long before.

AAGAMAN 2006

The students showcased a plethora of refined events that included a Skit, explaining the evolution of mankind. A Fusion Parody which was the result of a sound choreography and sequencing of hit numbers from Holly-Bolly-Kollywood which enthralled the audience. Fashion Show showcasing Indian Ethnic, Corporate Formals and Sporty Wear set the ramp on fire. By the time every one were done with their main course of entertainment, the desserts were ready in the form of a vivacious rock show by the very own in house band of IIPM. But the show stealer of the show with out any doubts was a song “Lamha Lamha” performed by Sr. Professor Debojit Choudhary.

Students who were full of excitement could not resist themselves, when they saw their own professor grooving to the beats of the DJ. Everyone got on to the dance floor the minute the cultural events ended. Every soul present there added up to the already hot and spicy environment by shaking a leg.

Who says B – schools are supposed to be a serious and formal affair when we have the most serious party freaks as professors.
