Yelagiri Trekking
Date: 9th.July 2005
Venue: Yelagiri (TamilNadu)
Participants: PGP/SS/05-07 & PGP/SS/04-06
Everyone was exited about Saturday-9th July,2005..No it was not the premiere of “The Rising”,it was Club Recall’s Yelagiri calling . The bus started from IIPM at about 9 pm. As the wheels started rolling, the students were in relative motion dancing to their own music and jumping ,not because the road was rough , because they were too excited to know what the morning had in store for them.
The bus reached Yelagiri in the wee hours of Sunday 10th july 2005. This didn’t stop the students from continuing the same motion as they were in the bus, proving newtons law of motion to the core( every object will remain to stay in motion or rest unless and until and external force is applied)
After a power breakfast of idly and sambar the students and faculties left the resort O’nila (wondering what it meant ) for a trek. The group had no idea how long the trek was and whether they had the stamina for the climb. As the altitude increased the number in the group reduced.
Eventually when the faculties reached the top of the hill feeling proud that they had arrived before the students, the students jumped out of the bushes making the whole experience a damp squib. Most of the water that was bought for the trek had evaporated during the climb, the students were dogged and thirsty, so another group set out to find water. They finally got water from a few children to bring water especially for the trekkers.
What goes up must come down and so all the trekkers came down hill like a land slide.
After such a tiring day, still not only the students but also the faculties had stamina to go for boating. The students were found singing in group in the rowing boat and faculties enjoyed in paddling and experiencing the nature.
The day was coming to an end and the group came together for a camp fire to the resort. The fire got the best of the students. They danced , sang, mimicked and cracked jokes which made the evening a memorable one. After the bonfire the group was upset about the adventure coming to an end. The bus left yelagiri with a trial of memories and the group still wondering what O’nila meant.
