“Retail Nautical Evolution” deals with the evolution of the retail industry in India. The path it has followed and the position it holds in the foray of industries. Retailing, today has become an inseparable part of any product or service per say. Renvo has been such a platform where the 4Ps club (the marketing club) of IIPM presented a few of the most eminent speakers in the city.
“The Chemistry of Indian Retail, a paradigm shift” is one topic which acts as an umbrella and does justice to all the subtopics explaining about all the minute details. It was very important for the club to call speakers from the various sectors of the plethora of industries and so we did .we had speakers from the real estates, pharmaceuticals, banking and the hard core telecom sector.
The event started with our dean Prof. Amit Baruah along with our honorable speakers lighting the lamp Girish Mallpani started the session after the introduction given by our dean. He spoke about the effect of retailing in the retailing sector. He highlighted the scenario of the retailing in the real estates. The city has become home for some excellent Malls which are thriving on the growing mall culture in the consumers today. He spoke on how the consumers want that “experience” while they go out shopping. The customer wants to be pampered on all front’s and he explained all this with several examples from the industry and his own success story The MPM Mall.
Mr. Krishna Sagar Rao, CEO of Matrix Life Systems followed Mr Mallpani. He shared his views about the retailing in the FMCG sector and the Pharma sector. His was an inspirational speech enlightening students about the basic strategies being adopted by the world leaders like WALMART. He showed the right path to success and has guided the students to follow their dreams and to dwell upon their knowledge by digging deep into the books.
His session was followed by Mr G.Sairajan who is the senior faculty in NABARD. His was a session full of his unique laughter medicines He spoke on the FDI’s coming into India, he showed all the prospects and a few suggestions so as to improve the economy of our country. He made us realize how important our contribution to the country is and how we can change the face of this sluggish economy.
Then came the dynamic duo Mr Balachandran and Mr Bhupesh Dinger who with their unique style of presentation, i.e., the jugalbandi style created an atmosphere of awe for all the students. They together displayed how a company is managed and how important it is for the management to retain its customers. They explained that retailing is not just selling a product or service but it is associated with building a relationship of the customer with it .In short they explained about the core competencies required to become a good and leading retailer.
RENVO has created ripples in the student community and all the
B schools. The kind of knowledge it has given to students is totally incomparable with anybody else. Events like these not only give the subject knowledge but also expose students to activities which make them better managers in the days to come.
