Event: Medical Camp For Gidf Children
Date: 25th November 2007
Venue: Nargis Dutt Nagar & Gyaneshwar Nagar
25th Nov 2007 was a Sunday but by the time the teams (the group was divided into two teams for simultaneous work in both camps) arrived we found children already there in the school waiting for the doctors to come. Some were accompanied by their parents who were exited on getting the chance to finally get their children checked up.
At 11a.m. sharp the doctors from Anjuman-i-Islam’s M.I.J. Tibbia Unani Medical College & Haji A.R. Kalsekar Tibbia Hospital arrived (2 per camp) and started the check up. The children made queues and patiently waited their turn. The height and weight measurements were taken by our team members and a small gift was given to the children. Each camp lasted for nearly 5 hours and a huge total of nearly 120 children attended the camp. The camp ended with a feeling of accomplishment that was unprecedented for all of us.
The doctors also held a small workshop for the parents to educate them on the basic sanitation requirement for the children. The children and their parents went back with knowledge and recommendations for enriching their lives forever.
The GIDF School in the heart of the slum stands as an oasis in the desert for the innocent kids. It fosters self confidence and a means to a life of dignity by teaching them basics and providing them a sense of normalcy in their chaotic lives. |

Campfire
Date: 23rd February 2007
Venue: Father Agnel’s Bal Bhuvan, Bandra
The students of IIPM, Mumbai initiated a campfire for the destitute boys of Father Agnels Bal Bhuvan on the 23rd of February. This was another activity under the program “HOPE”, a program for the upliftment of the destitute children of our country.
After collecting donation from the students of IIPM on the Valentines Day we propelled a further meeting of the boys of Bal Bhuvan through a campfire close to Bal Bhuvan Ashram, Bandstand. Wood borrowed from the meticulous carpenter’s apprenticeship close by, a small and cozy fire was made. The Bal Bhuvan Boys were excited about the whole affair. The decibel level was high! The enthusiastic group played antakshari and played around the fire.
As the night went by, the air around became hotter than when had started. Sweets where always around to keep the spirits pepped-up! The students convinced Brother Titus to play his guitar. Singing along with the guitar music, around the fire was purely nostalgic and the smile on the face of the ashram boys brought to us satisfaction and peace.
The day closed with the team of IIPM, Mumbai gifting a brand new computer to the ashram boys. They were delighted on receiving of the gift and Brother Bosco, the Warden, expressed his long wish of “having a computer system for the boys”.
Father Franscisco, the head of the institution called it a day by thanking the students of IIPM. He pointed out the grandeur of the camp-fire in the hearts of the boys in the ashram and thanked the team for the positivity they had rendered. |

Venue: GID at St. Anthony's Old Age Home, Bandra Reclamation
It was a bright Saturday Morning and the members of the Great Indian Dream club were being implored to go to an Old Age home to spend some time with the senior citizens. The effort was to bring a smile on the faces of the women who were living at the St. Anthony’s Old Age Home since many years. Students played the guitar and sang songs for the lovely ladies, which was then followed by a game Housie. It was great to see that even though some ladies did not have the physical strength to play the game, they made sure that they were at their competitive best through the GID members. Prizes were also given away to the winners.

GID Club’s Diwali Celebrations
Date: 1st November 2005
Venue: IIPM, Mumbai
This Diwali to light up the lives of all the children who patronize our NFE centre we got them out of the community and showed them a good time on the premises of the Indian Institute of Planning & Management. We lovingly invited 22 children along with their teacher to the campus.
On the morning of November 01, 2005 with crackers bursting and the din of festive sounds all around the GID members were busying themselves by decorating a classroom in the Institute for the same.
We filled it with balloons, diyas and candles to create a conducive atmosphere that would later on set the mood for fun and frolic.
We had organized light refreshments by way of samosas, pineapple sheera and apple juice for everyone present.
The highlight of this celebration was the IIPM live band. They played popular Hindi film songs which the kids really identified with and sang along.
