Prof. Sohani |
An industrial visit was organized on 26th November 2005 to UPL Industries, situated at Vapi in Gujarat. It was a 1 day industrial trip planned by the institute to show the students the actual working of an industry and enlighten them about the various prospects of working in a manufacturing industry. 44 students participated for the same. UPL converts Phosphorus into various crop protecting products which are then used for protecting the crops produced by farmers against any insects or pests.
UPL mainly exports its products to various countries all across the world. It has great demand for its product in countries like UK, USA, Brazil etc. This is the reason why they have to keep different packages for different countries as languages changes in various countries. After seeing the packaging process of the finished products, they proceeded towards the actual making of various products. They were taken to various plants i.e. to the actual production units in the complex. The machinery here is controlled by SAP. This was followed by a discussion with Mr Akhilesh - HR Manager of UPL Vapi who gave a further insight about the company regarding their policies towards workers and customers.
