The students of The Indian Institute of Planning & Management, Mumbai celebrated Republic day from the 22nd of January to 25th of January 2007.
This four day series began on 22nd January 2007 with a T-Shirt painting competition- “Freedom Express” organized at the IIPM, Mumbai campus where in students demonstrated their outlook towards freedom. They colored T-shirts to highlight- Freedom, which has been misused by us thus leading to unrest and uproar.
On 23rd January 2007 original, patriotic poetries written by IIPM, Mumbai students took over the influence of colors that prevailed in the campus on the day before. These poems put down their thoughts and expressed freedom as a power to bring about a change. However each one shared a common view- “Are we growing as a nation or destroying our possessions?”
The series on its third day began with team games played where in each group had to accomplish tasks like decorating the campus with tri-colors, putting up quotes by freedom fighters and pinning up a flag on each, everyone on campus. This only reflected that in harmony we can build a brighter future of each citizen of INDIA.
The last day- 25th January 2007 was the day the students demonstrated the true ideology of us Indians through a Peace Rally. This peace rally was a walk across the quaint suburb area of Bandra with students and staff holding banners and posters to showcase their belief in the ideologies of our freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
IIPM continually strives to create awareness amongst people about important issues like AIDS, Population, Cleanliness etc. This four day event was a part of IIPM’s continued effort to play an integral part in creating a better INDIA.
