GAFLA ON 19TH OCTOBER,2006

The students of The Indian Institute of Planning and Management, Mumbai organized an event on Thursday 19th October, 2006 at 10:30 am at the Cinemax Multiplex in Versosva. Professor Shouvik Basu arranged an exclusive show only for IIPM students.

After much deliberation it was unanimously decided to go and watch one of the new film releases – the movie ' Gafla' which is reportedly based on the famous stock market scam by Harshad Mehta (now deceased). Just to revive memory, the Harshad Mehta scam was one of the first scams to rock the Stock Exchanges of India and involved a fraud of about a thousand of crores of Rupees. With most of the students aiming for a career in the fast lane of finance, a movie on the famous Indian stock exchange was like a pilgrimage. 

After the movie got over (like all good things come to an end), Prof Shouvik Basu gave a pleasant surprise by inviting the actor of the movie Mr. Vinod Sherawat to join us for an interaction and coffee. 

It was a fun filled and lively experience for all the students present there.
