The “Star Squad Series” is a team building program to encourage interaction between the IIPM- Planman staff and students. The event was organized with the aim to develop the ability to coordinate and communicate in a team of 15 people who have different backgrounds.

Though the training program was scheduled the 12th of February the ice breaking session was carried out on the 9th of February where in the team members were introduced to each other and were given their very first task of creating their own brand name logo and slogan with the basic materials provided to each team. Painted face, weird tag lines, roars and howls were order of the day. The day was exciting. It was just beginning. Six teams were lined up for 12th of the month.

7:00 a.m. and an unusual sight outside the IIPM campus- a crowd of more than 100 people gathered, waiting to head to K. V. resort Karnala. The event began with a formal badge ceremony for all the Captains (IIPM & Planman staff) & Vice captains (Student representative). The training games were then played with all the teams- each teaching the participants about a new learning.

The training program ended with the award ceremony where the wining team was awarded with Gold medals. Each team also voted for the Best Team Member who was honored with medal. As a token of remembrance each participant was given a slam book with their team picture on it.

Competency Mapping and Tata Business Model
Date: 14th October 2004
Venue: IIPM, Mumbai

The Human Factor Meeting organized a presentation on the 14th of October 2004. The topics covered were:

  1. The Tata Business Excellence Model – Presented by Dhiraj Chaddha
  2. Competency Mapping – Presented by Noor and Deepak.

Dhiraj Chaddha presented the ‘Tata Business Excellence Model’ and outlined the merits and demerits of the same. Comparisons were also made in accordance to certifications already existing in the market. There was a deep discussion with regard to the uses of concepts such as benchmarking and theories such as ‘6 sigma’ methodologies.

Noor and Dipak began their presentation on Competency Mapping soon after. While Dipak began with the essentials of mapping competency in an organization Noor managed to provide considerable substance to the discussion by adding his experience during his Summer Project with Alstrom, India Ltd, a manufacturing company, that had employed him to orchestrate a Competency Mapping exercise across the lower levels of the organization.
