The lecture was a Summary of his research on “Asian Titan Trends & Opportunities – Part 3”, where he explained how to master alternative investment, i.e. how to “Increase returns without increasing the risk.” He started by explaining how the basic principle of “Demand & Supply” prevails in investments also. For example a company may not do so well in business but if the demand of its stocks is high, so the price also is high.

Most Valuable Points

  • The most important aspect of investment should be the liquidity attached to it. Whatever we invest in, we should always remember that it should have enough liquidity for us to sell it any time.
  • Investments are all about Demand & Supply. A company may not do so well but unless its stocks have demand, it is a good deal to trade with it.
  • Indexed Funds is the safest way to invest as we deal with the best companies listed in the market.
  • It is good to stay invested in a market but not in a stock as the risk involved in a stock is much more.
  • It is more profitable to invest in an Indian Company listed in Foreign Market as we don’t need to pay tax on its return.
  • To earn in a market all we need to do is observe the market behavior very carefully.
  • “It is good to start the career with a Job as we can build our credit ratings and get a loan easily, so we can invest the same to increase our assets in young age. This will help us to be rich early and also retire as Millionaires.”

Date:  19th January 06
Venue: IIPM Campus, Mumbai

“Capitalism is here to stay” was the key note with which Mr. Virendra Bakshi started his speech on the ever growing reign of Capitalism. ------ EX – Chairman - Mumbai Housing Board (MHADA) 1992-94. Founder Chairman - Vigneshwar Sanskrit Mandal, coming up with a Public Library, Charitable dispensary and religious Complex.

Mr. Bakshi said Capitalism is the new age mantra which is the best success story ever. The same can be seen in form of superpowers like USA and UK. But capitalism in India will succeed only with proper regulation. Jawaharlal Nehru thought of a mixed economy for India as he had a special purpose in mind. China can now embrace capitalism as there is equality among masses vis a vis the anarchy that ruled 50 years before. Mr. Nehru had the same equality quotient in his mind when he chose to accept a mixed economy. Now after more than 50 years – India has reached a stage where we can progress only with the help of capitalism.

Mr. Bakshi also discussed history behind the foundations of capitalism in our country. India was an open economy under the British rule. It was ruled by an MNC – The East India Company till 1857, post which the Queen of England took over the reins of the country. The foundation of one united country, with good universities and the base of the English were laid only by the British. If it wasn’t for the capitalist English MNC – India would be still ruled by different kings and divided among 100’s of provinces and there wouldn’t be one single country called India.
