Event: Lords Of The Loud
Date: 5th May 2007
Venue: Andheri Sports Complex
Bands: Indian Ocean & Parikrama

The complex was dark, the stage and crowd indistinguishable, but there was no stopping the vibrant energy that filled the atmosphere. Thousands were present, cheering and screaming, until they heard that first sound of music at the Indian Ocean & Parikrama Concert. The event was organized by the students of The Indian Institute of Planning & Management to create awareness regarding two extremely grave issues -“Fight against Child Labour” & “HIV/AIDS”.
A crowd of over 7000 people hushed into a deafening silence, only to break into an uproar the moment Indian Ocean strummed that first string. They were soon followed by Parikrama, only to increase the infectious excitement. Indian Ocean, a band that works towards spreading Social Harmony and Parikrama enthralled the spectators at the Andheri Sports Complex through the evening.
However, a night filled with therapeutic rock and fierce head banging was not their primary aim. The magnitude of these issues has become crucially intimidating in recent times and needs to be addressed sensitively. The concert seeked to encourage the youth to step up to this daunting challenge and work towards altering the prejudices and practices that surround them.
Indian ocean believes that “The band is one entity and works together We as artist's take part in efforts such as the one the IIPM, Mumbai students are making and try and bring people to a platform where the message can be spread as far as possible . That's why we feel properties like "Lord of the Louds" are very important”
“It’s really a great feeling playing in Mumbai. It has given so much to us. We would like to thank the students of IIPM Mumbai for giving us this opportunity to perform once again.” says Subir Malik of Parikrama.
The show was in aid of The Great Indian Dream Foundation and Yuvak Pratishthan whose core focus is improving health & education at the grassroots level.
As the night revolved around more Indian rock music, the crowd was filled with sense bliss, but they walked back home with a sense of responsibility and duty.

At IIPM Mumbai we strongly believe in voicing out “Loud” our concerns for the sustenance of “Human Life”. With this belief was born the idea of the    “Lords of the Loud” concert an event that would create awareness across Mumbai about the deadly disease AIDS that is predominantly spreading rapidly amongst the youth.

The concert brought together two of the greatest bands Euphoria and Strings from India and Pakistan respectively. The bands were especially selected to show solidarity between the two nations against this fight because “AIDS does not discriminate people do”

The gates were only opened at 6:00pm but a staggering crowd awaited patiently almost an hour earlier to enter the venue. As the astounding crowd of more than 8000 people sang, shout and danced to the spell – bounding music of “Strings” who ended their heart rendering performance with the soulful song from the movie “Zinda” and reminded the crowd of the Importance of each person’s Zindagi and to double the effort against eradicating the spread of the HIV Virus.

The stage then played host to the energetic beats of “Euphoria” who pumped up the energy with their playful and vibrant songs. The concert was given a fitting end with the song “Kabhie Ana Tu Meri Gali” but with new lyrics dedicated to the city of “Mumbai – titled Kabhie Ana Tu Mumbai Gali”. The lead singer Palash Sen a doctor by profession in his farewell emphasized to the crowd the significance of spreading AIDS Awareness.

The concert will be etched in the minds of all attendees as being a great evening dedicated to an even greater cause.
