Prof. Tobias Kretschmer

Dr. Tobias Kretschmer joined the IIM as a Lecturer in Strategy and Economics in 2001. He holds a M.Sc. in Management from the University of St. Gallen ( Switzerland) and a Ph.D. in Economics from the London Business School. Prior to joining LSE, Dr. Kretschmer was a research fellow in the Economics and Political Science Group at INSEAD, France.
Tobias Kretschmer is currently a research affiliate at LSE’s Centre for Economic Performance and ETLA (The Research Institute of the Finnish Economy, Helsinki) and also teaches courses in Strategic Thinking, Microeconomics and Industrial Organization at HEC (Paris), AESE ( Lisbon), CDTM ( Munich) and WUT Business School ( Warsaw). He has also taught executive programs on strategies and market dynamics in high-technology industries at LSE.
Dr. Kretschmer’s research focuses on the economics of network industries. He has written several empirical and theoretical papers on mobile telephony, consumer electronics, and information and communication technology (ICT), which have been published in the International Journal of Industrial Organization, the Review of Industrial Organization, and the Journal of Industry, Competition and Trade, among others. In addition, Dr. Kretschmer has also worked on public policy in standard battles, the dynamics of technology adoption and on capturing synergies in modular organizations.
