Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri expresses his views on health access on the event of Bharatiya Manavata Vikas Puraskar, 2018
The renowned institute, IIPM, recently celebrated its 45 years of glory with a social event named as Bharatiya Manavata Vikas Puraskar. The event was organized in New Delhi on 30th August 2018. The joyous evening was made more special by the presence of some of the stalwarts from the business and glamour industry.
On this occasion, Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri, the honorary director of IIPM, discussed his ideas on some of the crucial issues affecting the country. According to Dr. Chaudhuri, a stepping stone of human development is the ability to access the prospects of health, education, and justice. One of the issues that he feels strongly about is the need for equality of opportunities in health and wellness. He believes that the way of measuring a nation’s success and knowing if the country is doing enough for its people is by understanding whether or not the nation has offered adequate access to health facilities to each one of its citizens. He also voiced his opinions on the need for universal health insurance.
The country will truly be known to have progressed only when the poorest of poor will get the same kind of health access as a man who is well off. In the words of Dr. Chaudhuri, our country can achieve human development in the actual sense of the term only when there are no barriers to accessing proper health facilities by everyone in the country.
