Prasoon S Majumdar
Dean (All India), IIPM


Blog: COMMON SENSE SIMPLIFIED

Prof. Prasoon S Majumdar is currently the All India Dean at IIPM. He has been instrumental in the recent expansion process of IIPM across 18 centres in India and has ensured standardized quality management system through a team of 18 centre Deans. He has devised innovative quality control mechanisms at the various centres to ensure an uniformity in the academic delivery at IIPM. Prof Majumdar also spearheaded the process of starting various academic journals at IIPM, with the help of IIPM Think Tank, an India-centric research body that is committed to enhance public awareness of policy issues on economics and management and engineer solutions that will fulfill the 'Great India Dream'.

At IIPM he also operationalised the current global outreach programs, which has taken IIPM way above the contemporaries in making its programme more globalised (source: Zee Business-Synovate Ranking, 2008, 2009, 2011). Apart from academics, he manages to allocate his time and resources in teaching, consulting, training, research and editorial and communication activities.

He has often represented IIPM at various public forums, chat shows and televised shows to speak on current affairs, higher education and national economic policies. He has also been the lead trainer for UNDP ‘People Living with HIV/AIDS: Leadership for Results’ programme and co-trainer at various workshops, conducted under the aegis of ‘Planman-IIPM Chief Executive Forum’. He has also authored a book – “EASY: Economic Analysis Simplified for You.”

Prof. Rajita Chaudhuri is the Dean, Centre for Enterprise Management at IIPM. She additionally also chairs the Centre for Action Oriented Social Development at IIPM. Prof Chaudhuri is also a regular and well acclaimed columnist of 4P’s Business and Marketing magazine.

Over the years, she has been involved with various training and development activities of the institute and has conducted workshops for big and well established industrial houses across India. Her expertise lies in expert knowledge in marketing strategy, business professionalism and the essence of team building in achieving the required effectiveness and her workshops are commonly represented by senior executives from well known corporations. She also heads Planman Marcom – an integrated communications, advertising and promotions company. Prof Chaudhuri has authored two books – “Orangutan as your Brand Ambassador” and “Thorns to Competition” (along with Prof Arindam Chaudhuri).

She has also been closely involved in various social development projects at IIPM under the aegis of the Great Indian Dream Foundation. It is a social consulting initiative of the Planman Group, which envisages to empower the vulnerable sections of the society by building their capacities through education, health and skill–based development. GIDF has dedicated itself for the cause of human development focusing on the less privileged sections of the society in the rural & urban areas of the country.

A Sandeep

Prof. A. Sandeep is Group Editor of Planman Media Publications. He additionally holds the post of the Executive President at Planman Consulting, the multi interest consulting conglomerate founded by Prof Arindam Chaudhuri in 1996. Prof Sandeep is considered as one of South Asia’s distinguished exponents in Business Policy and Competitive Strategies and has spent a considerable amount of time in the consulting domain.

After earning his PGDPM from IIPM, Prof Sandeep went on to complete his PGDM from IIM Calcutta. He joined back IIPM to spear head the research wing of the institute and soon lead from the front to launch two business magazines under the aegis of IIPM Think Tank-Planman Media – Business & Economy and 4Ps Business and Marketing. He soon groomed a team of young IIPM graduates to take up the editorial responsibilities of these magazines, while he kept on anchoring the magazines as the captain of a ship. Prof A Sandeep has also represented IIPM on the World Bank Institute Steering Committee for the National Conference on CSR initiatives. He has also been on the selection panel of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Kolkata.

Prof. Sandeep has conducted workshops alongside eminent professors from world class universities such as Wharton, Yale, Kellogg, Stanford, IMD, INSEAD, European School of Management and many others. Currently, he delivers lectures on Business Policy and Mergers & Acquisitions to the students of the management programmes at IIPM campuses across Asia, apart from leading a team of senior research associates in various academic researches.

Shubhoshekhar Bhattacharjee

Shubho Shekhar Bhattacharjee did his schooling from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Deoghar, founded by Swami Vivekananda, which is known for its unique curriculum that seamlessly blends the Western scientific thought with Indian spiritualism and philosophy. His early engagement with spiritualism and The Gita started in the school. After passing out with distinction as one of the toppers from the school, he decided to study Science at G.C. College, Silchar, where he secured the 8th rank in the 12th boards in the state.

He did his Physics Honours from the Guwahati University and soon emerged as one of the prominent debaters of the region and won several big competitions. He went on to secure the first position in the university in Physics.

He was rather indecisive about his next career move, considering between the Civil Services and Masters in Physics, when one day his mother read about IIPM’s philosophy and persuaded him to try Management instead. Within a few weeks, Shubho was at IIPM, New Delhi, getting awed by the brilliance of IIPM professors and absorbing management ideas. He was almost sure of getting into advertising as his career and was offered positions at three of the top advertising agencies in India. However, a rather mafiotic offer from Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri lured him to join Planman Consulting. There he got involved into Marketing and HR Consulting with various blue-chip MNCs and PSUs. Shubho also took up one of his passions at IIPM and started teaching Behavioural Science. His lectures soon gained prominence at IIPM and he started getting into several synergistic areas of Management .

After five years of Consulting and teaching, Shubho plunged into film-making, a career that he had always dreamt of getting into. He started Planman Motion Pictures and got engaged into making feature films. Under his leadership Planman Motion Pictures has won 3 National Awards, for the films The Last Lear , Do Dooni Chaar and Faltu. His team has also produced Saanjhbathir Roopkathara that was the first ever regional film acquisition of a Hollywood major. They also produced the much acclaimed Dosar, and Mithya, .However much engaging and distracting film making could be, Shubho is in no mood to give up his lectures at IIPM. He still enjoys his interaction with his students and he believes that the interactions and sessions with young minds keep him energetic, hungry and on his toes too.



Indranil Das

Indranil has an MBA from the National University of Singapore and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indore University (Devi Ahilya Viswavidyalaya). Presently he is the Executive Editor of The Human Factor, one of India’s most reputed human resource and leadership focussed monthly magazine. He is also the Dean of International Alliances at IIPM, and is responsible for developing alliances with reputed international universities and institutions in the areas of curriculum development, accreditation, research, student exchange and faculty development. Prior to his present assignment Indranil worked with the National University of Singapore and was instrumental in expanding NUS’s Executive Education portfolio and geographical footprint beyond Singapore, in the process setting up alliances in China, Malaysia, South Korea, Sri Lanka and Japan. He has significant experience in curriculum development at the executive level, and has worked with senior academicians across the globe in developing corporate and institutional programs. At NUS he was also responsible for developing alliances with other globally reputed universities to design and deliver joint programs and projects in management education.

Shikha Ghosh

After completing her masters in business administration from IIPM, Shikha Ghosh started her career in the area of public relations in the year 98, and went on to become the President of ICPAR, the PR wing of Planman Consulting. She is the winner of the prestigious 4th Indy's Super Achiever Award held in 2010, for outstanding contribution to the field of Marketing and Branding.

Her hard work on her first assignment at ICPAR - the launch campaign of the lubricant brand Valvoline Cummins, a 50-50 joint venture between Valvoline Inc. of USA and Cummins India Ltd led her to a success ladder which saw her climbing up from team leadership to strategic leadership positions and by around 2005, she had already worked on some of the biggest corporate entities in India - Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Maya Entertainment, the Oswal owned Monte Carlo, Hero Honda, Jindals, the JK Group, to name a few. She has also specialized in fashion and lifestyle brands and had developed winning communication strategies for Nike, Victorinox, Sprandi, Planet Sports, Wilson, a host of fashion designers and design boutiques amongst others.

Besides her contributions to ICPAR she is also an active member of various marketing and branding forums at her alma mater and a well known mentor for students regarding career opportunities in the communication industry.

With over a decade long experience in media relations, corporate and personality image management and brand consultation, she has advised numerous national and international corporate entities and public sector firms on reputation management, media and communication issues.

In 2009 she shifted to a consulting role with ICPAR and took up the challenging role of Chief All India Admissions advisor at IIPM which she continues till date. She is also the editor of the quarterly publication 'Power Women', which comes out with 4p's Business and Marketing.



Namita Chetri

Steven Philip Warner
