Under the agies of NTU’s Global Discovery Programme which is jointly sponsor by NTU and The Economic Development Board of Singapore (EDP) 25 students of NTU were in IIPM campuses across India for four weeks. The aim was to give students general overview of India- its history, its cultural, its economic prowess, its business environment, its adaptation to the globalization phenomenon, amongst others. Students underwent thought provoking sessions on developmental economics in India and South East Asia, trade relations in the Indian Ocean region, socio-political changes in the country that has helped it in getting itself branded as a superpower of the future, etc. All this was delivered through a combination of classroom lectures, field trips and company visits to help the students get enriched by the best of IIPM faculty members / industry representatives from various subject domains. Students visited companies like Woodland, Fortis, ITC Green to name a few. At the end of the programme, the student learning was assessed through a systematic evaluation process. Some topics that are covered in the session are
- Indian Political System
- India-Singapore Trade Relation
- Indian Culture
- Indian History
- Indian Media System
NTU is an internationally reputed research-intensive tertiary institution. The university has roots that go back to 1955 when Nanyang University was set up. Today, NTU has four colleges with 12 schools. The Nanyang Business School is the first and only Singapore business school to be ranked in the top 27 of the Financial Times Global MBA 2010 rankings. It is also one of only three in Asia to be awarded both the EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) and AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accreditations - international hallmarks of quality.
