Torque (The Sports Club)

The primary idea of this club is to promote camaraderie in the batches through sports events and secondary aim is to encourage sports and games as an instrument for physical and mental agility. The club organizes competitive cricket tournaments, football matches, billiard competitions and many indoor games. Some of the major annual events of this club are the Aurobindo Chaudhuri Memorial Cricket Tournament, GOAL the Football Tournament and the Sports Week.

Torque Club Presents POOL to PULL Tournament at IIPM Pune_1_1_1_1

The Torque Club had a big turnout for their Saturday morning POOL tournament. 16 players signed up for the event on May 4th, and it ended up lasting much longer than normal. There were some good matches though, and a number of the better players bowed out early. Two Players (Irfan Siddique & Sumit Ramteke) who are always a favorite to win lost a couple of close matches when they got hooked a ball or so from the out. Sandeep Zotting, who is a regular winner of the POOL tournament couldn’t reach for the Tournament matches. Rule: - A Player needs to win 2 matches out of 3 to proceed further In the finals, the Clash of Titans was between Sumit Vishvakarma and Ashish Tripathi. In the first game, Ashish played tentatively, almost trying not to lose, and he missed many shots that he wasn't earlier in the tournament. Sumit ended up winning the first game fairly easily. In the final match though, Ashish took the bull by the horns and went into the game with a win my way or die attitude. He played flawlessly, running 6 balls, but made a mistake on his last one. Sumit took all the advantage that he could to win that game. Atlast Sumit won the Race Congratulations to Sumit Vishwakarma for winning the tournament and to Ashish for his great play all day until the end.

Furious:- Knights Of the Square Board Chess Tournament_1_1_1

This Saturday (11/05/2013) must surely be the best time of year for us chess enthusiasts who like to squeeze their opponent’s brain through cunning moves. It was a showcase of some great games during the tournament. There were around 8 Grand Masters playing on that day out of which 4 emerges to be Great Grand Masters. Sumit Vishwakarma, vibhav Nagarsenkar, Anirudh Patel & Nagendra regmi were the Masters who astound the Spectators with there Killer Moves. Anirudh Patel & Nagendra Regmi was the two Finalists who scored equal number of points and fought for the Place of King. Anirudh Patel was very alert and had great intention of winning the Tournament with his high impact of Strategies but Nagendra Regmi had his Calmness and strong wall held high to protect his King, which ultimately made him the WINNER, and gave him the Title of “KNGHT OF THE SQUARE BOARD”.

Chess enthusiasts who like to squeeze their opponent’s brain through cunning moves had a great time to showcase their talent during the tournament. Vishwakarma, Vaibhav Nagarsenkar, Anirudh Patel & Nagendra Regmi were the four players who made it to the final round. Nagendra Regmi’s calmness and strong will to protect his King ultimately made him the WINNER and he was given the title of “KNIGHT OF THE SQUARE BOARD”.

Torque Club Presents Soccer Mania Football Tournament at IIPM Pune

“Soccer Mania” football event took place at Golibaar grounds, Pune. Around 50 students from IIPM Pune were present on the ground; and three teams took part in this eagerly awaited event. There were around 4 matches played in all, 7 members a side. All the matches saw very competitive football being played in the right spirit, with fair play and sportsmanship. The students enjoyed playing the sport and were driven by fun along with the desire to win.
