Rhetorix (The Communication Club)

Rhetorix is the Debate & Communication Club at IIPM, The Indian Institute of Planning & Management. The club organizes Guest Lectures, Debates and other communication exercises for students. The club believes in "Building Orators" through a series of events and exercises. Among all the events organized by the Rhetorix Club, the most notable event being the annual Aurobindo Chaudhuri Memorial Debate Competition.

Under IIPMs several creditable initiatives, also fall The Aurobindo Chaudhuri Memorial Debate Competition, which aims to apprize the best debaters of the nation, as a part of the Rhetorix Club.To support this initiative IIPM, Indore held the elimination rounds on 27th of April 2011, at our campus out here. Open house discussion on Corruption in India at IIPM Indore

Since the demand for a strict anti corruption act was in the air and all Indians have united once again to free India from the cage of corruption . IIPM being full of youth provided a good platform for brainstorming and witnessed it happening in its real sense. An open forum discussion was organized on 29th August 2011 on the topic Corruption in India under Retorix Club. The IIPMiets not only identified, the causes for the current scenario, but also came up with various recommendations to fight against corruption. The discussion brought to life many burning topics from 2G spectrum to common wealth games. As most Indians today, our students were also highly provoked with the revolutionary phase of our nation. One could actually observer the transformation of aggression into assertion, while this future of tomorrow was practically identifying the areas of development in our country. The Jan Lokpal bill was also discussed & much supported by each member of the discussion. This exercise not only enhanced the communication skills of the students but also has been a step in bringing-up the constructive and bright leaders of tomorrow.

Open house discussion on Pros and cons of social networking at IIPM Indore

At an average maximum number of us spend 2 to 3 hours daily on any of the social networking sites. As it has now become an integral part of every youngster's routine, the opinions gushed in. Its has a major Pro of being aware of the happenings of near and dear ones, but at the same time Cons like being left with no time for yourself also come with the package. The students put more stress on as how they got connected to their old friends and how the world through information sharing has become more compact. How spreading messages has become even easier. The participants also enlisted the enormous cons these sites offer. Lower security and a Wide variety of users base which increases the chance of meeting distrustful people. Social networking has also stolen away a lot of time, which could be utilized for a better causes.
